1) New Regional Commissioner Appointed.

19th January 2017

From Graham Haddock, Chief Commissioner.

Dear Friends,

I am delighted to announce the appointment of a new member of the SHQ Team:

James Cumming has been appointed to succeed Colin Williamson as Regional Commissioner for SW Scotland Region from 1st February, 2017.

James has been involved in Scouting since his time as a Cub Scout. He then worked his way through all of our youth sections. At the age of 16, he took out an instructor's certificate until he was 18 when he received his first leader warrant. Within his local group in Beith (102nd Ayrshire), he has worked with all Sections, with the exception of Beaver Scouts and has held adult appointments for over 20 years.

His first District role was as DESC in Cunningham South District before its merger with Cunningham North to form North Ayrshire and Arran. Following the merger he became Deputy District Commissioner. After a year in this appointment the DC stepped down and James was asked to take on the role of DC for North Ayrshire and Arran, a role which he held for eight years. There were many challenges in the new merged District when James took up the reins as DC with the help of a strong District Team he was able to turn the District round. It is now in good heart. James will be a valuable addition to the RC team in Scotland. He has great experience at many levels in Scouting and, in addition to the above, has a strong international streak having led many Scout expeditions overseas. He is a fitting successor to Colin Williamson and I have no doubt James will build on Colin's superb work in the role.

Best wishes,

Graham Haddock
Chief Commissioner
